What the hell. It happened again. I came home from lunch with a friend before class and ended up passing out again for 10 minutes. Sonuvabitch this is getting weird to me. Anyway we had lunch and I was inspired to come up with a quick idea for a self-defense/bust the teeth outta some sucka’s head device. So below I will detail what the theory is and one day if I get a scanner I can start uploading sketchs (yeah right, an artist even for my ideas, I am not).

So it works by using a gyroscopic device built into a pair of reinforced brass knuckles. These are connected to the arm shield, just a metal sleeve. Attached to the sleeve is a ram. Now, the idea of this is to use the gyro to eleviate some of the weight momentarily from the users fist. They raise up, caulk arm back and activate the ram, which is spring loaded. Once the system begins to move the gyro will disengage hopefully before the moment of impact. The fist impacts the target and then the ram engages and throws its mass into the equation. So, in essence if you can already throw a mean punch an added 2.5kg stationary mass will make it that much more devastating once it engages upon contact.

The force is directed into the fist and transfered into the target. The system should have a recoil compensation system that absorbs some of the reaction force (Newton’s laws after all) from the impact.

Now the ram is essentially floating as a semi free body and creates its own force system. The person throws their mass into the punch, this as stated, triggers the ram to throw its mass in as well, in the same direction this allows it to add the force into the entire system.

To simplify further, think human arm meets pile driver.

Anyway that’s all I got. Feel free to comment, I know these are not even a quarter baked ideas but they are seeds. Perhaps one day I can make them grow.

Ok, normally this doesn’t get posted but screw it. I just woke up from an apparent shut down for 15minutes. That is to say I just randomly fell asleep. I don’t know why this happens but it does. I’m not narcoleptic, but every now and then I just shut down for a few. What follows is the recounting of my dream. 

Basically I started with a box of parts, mostly containing high intensity light production, RF production, static, and other EM fields. After combining these things into a device roughly the size of a textbook I flipped one of two switches. 

The first could only be described as an effect straight out of portal. One button and it created the first hole, then the same button to make the linking hole and establish the link. It functioned by creating an interference pattern one a surface, the pattern warped the small area of space-time enough to weaken it. Well more like make it malleable. Once this happened the secondary link could be made, which was done in the same way. Both “warped” areas functioned on the same frequency and same energy levels. Almost like entanglement, then a high energy pulse of light and focus RF to actually punch the hole. This linked the two areas so that they were essentially linked in a fashion that created a mirrored effect on each side. 

Throwing an apple through one hole caused a mirrored reaction which made the apple appear to come out the other hole. In actuality the apple was copied and destroyed on the way “in” but its entangled twin made it out. I moved onto using a mouse next. It scurried through the hole and appeared on the other side. It reacted exactly the same as before, although I wondered if it was also a mirror image rather than a simple “pass through” in relation to effects described earlier. I marked its left ear with a marker and sent it through again. The mouse was in fact not mirrored, it appeared as though the effect caused a pass through although it really was more of a facsimile rather than the original. 

I decided to try it myself. At this point I walked through and emerged myself. When I say that I mean everything seemed to be normal. My memories intact and I felt no lapse in time. Consciousness it seemed was transmissible. Or perhaps it is linked to our brains in a manner much like encoding or sympathetic resonance. Since my brain was a perfect copy my consciousness just continued along. 

An interesting effect, like I said, like the game Portal by Valve. The next part is what was worried me. I pressed the second switch, I saw a bright flash and then I was somewhere else, or at least I though I was. I was both somewhere and somewhen else, but not in a Dr Who’s TARDIS sense. I moved over in space on this planet, but I was a year ahead. I figured it was due to the rotation of the earth around the sun and the rotation of the earth itself that allowed me to stay right where I was. Only it had been the 1 year from this date that I moved. I pressed again not wanting to interact with anyone or myself should I have gone missing or should I scare myself and alter something. (I know I went forward, but I panicked) So I press again. I’m in space. Now we know the pop culture idea of being in vacuum and off planet without and environmental suit to protect us. None the less I believe NASA’s idea that if I were in vacuum for a few seconds nothing bad would happen. 

I felt the moisture begin to boil on my lips and tongue and pressed again. I landed on Earth 9 years in the future. Not much changed except I found out I was missing for that time. No, there was no apocalypse or aliens, life as usual with a new Apple product on the market. This time I was in the ocean, luckily on the east coast of Canada in a well traveled fishing area. Long story short I was picked up and saved. 

After being accosted by friends and family due to my absence I pressed the button again after some explanation and demonstration. This time I flashed into nothing, although I didn’t flash there, I was there. I was there, I could see my hands, my feet, even my entire self in the reflection of my phone. Where was I? Turns out the time travel and my mirrored entanglement device (don’t want to call it a portal gun, so I’ll make up my own moniker here) work my moving the user through the space between spaces. I was in void. I pressed again and looked around only to find myself standing there. How long had it been? I realized, there is no time. I just jumped ahead a second and was able to witness myself there. 

We both stared at each other and in our panic pressed again. I remember more of me showing up, each one second ahead and behind, panic hadn’t subsided so the new me pressed their buttons again. 

This is where I remember the void and then waking up again. 

Screwed up dream. I had that in a fifteen minute span. And it has taken me almost double that time to write my account of it. 

I think I know what I need to do now. I now have a new theory that requires work and research. It is impossible but it will help to pass some time.

Awesome, just did some pricing. For what? Well, my railgun, of course. Flat Steel is gonna cost me maybe $20 and then $10 for an aluminium billet (to be cut into projectiles). Now, I need an inverter and an 18V battery, transformer and something to mount all this with. Wood would be cheap, but potential fire hazard. Which could be neat just the same.

Anyway, just a heads up. Oh, I know this may not work, and it will be inefficient as all hell but why not give it  a go.

Why do we create things in fantasy and then just leave them there. Now, let me straighten this out now, I’m talking machines and tech. I know some of it is actually just hokum and not possible (yet) or practical (yet), but why is it when ever I see the fruits of someones imagination shot down for such reasons I cringe?

To put it simply, ’cause I find it deplorable. If you have the time, and the money and the patience to go ahead and build something ridiculous, do it. I mean, I talk a big game, yet I haven’t played in it yet. So ignore this now if you want. But the point is, whenever someone myself included hears about an idea that is impractical or just doesn’t fit our society we automatically shoot it down. It could be a great idea, yet something deters us from it. Is it the design, the function, the theory of how it works and how it could be perverted? Are we built with a system that automatically censors our thoughts, so that only a certain caste of people can comprehend and appreciate the idea?

I guess what I cant comprehend is why experimentation has diminished amongst civilian ranks again. Is it the lack of skills, probably. The unwillingness to learn said skills? More than likely. But I can’t help but wonder, is it the establishment that tries to keep us all sheep and not willing to do until told? This I like to believe, but really, in true fact, it is ourselves. We hold ourselves and each other back. We cannot accept our potentials we can sense them amongst our ranks, yet we fear the unknown deep within our own minds. I wonder why I want to build a railgun. I wonder why I want to build anything that I think of. But I also fear it. The railgun especially, that shit could injure someone. I’d prefer to make it then lock it away, play with it every now and then. But what good is it in a small box in a closet?

So, I have determined, that if I can build the railgun in my head, I will of course post it. Maybe not with full instructions. But I will break the fear of my own potential. I will accept my failures, where in design, experiment or of mind, and embrace the knowledge such failures reveal.

I hence forth, promise to myself, the internet and to those reading that I will embark on the journey that is my attempt at this device. I will try within a budget of both time and funds. I will fail. But I want to say that I tried it, as this goal is closer to my reach. Having tried and failed is better than not trying at all.

Anyway, enough rant and madness. It’s time to start sourcing materials. Any help is appreciated.

Ok. Rant time. Again. Well even more ranting.

Tired of seeing military programming focussing on the damn nazis. Seriously. I understand the need to teach an aspect of history so that we can learn from it but with the amount of shit we show if it isn’t a show about Hitler himself it’s about his army or their tech.

I get it. Cool tech. Really well engineered. But fuck. Are you keeping him at the forefront of history? If we keep showing his face and not to mention have fucking DVDs dedicated to the nazis is it any wonder why we see the a rise in racism and other intolerance as well as a heavy right wing movement, especially in the states. Where I may add most of this shot is coming from.

The idea of the riech was that it would be 1000 years is not more. Well wake the fuck up! By keeping them in the front of people’s mind you only start to promote them. Their ideals are forced down the throats with the words “Own a piece of history. See the most evil man and regime in all the world. “

Yeah. Teach it for a class then fuck off. No one needs to remember them to that detail. They had brilliant minds behind them. Their science was experimental and forwarded the science of the world, it prompted the atomic race and even brought us untold medical knowledge. But all qt the cost of a staggering number if people. On all sides.

The tragedy of the Holocaust should not be forgotten, nor the sacrifice of all the men and women. Innocent or participatory. Didn’t matter it was all bad.

We. Do. Not. Need. To. Glorify. The. War.

I am lucky enough to live in a country that has freedom and the ability to walk the street in safety. This is from the sacrifice of soldiers. Instead of remember the fucking nazis let’s remember the ones who allowed for these freedoms.

That is not to say I am patriotic. I hate the governments that rule over man. The democracy that we the people are to be in charge of is a joke. We have given our control to a group and have grown complacent and weak. Our freedom came from the lives of soldiers who fought for what they believed was right. And because they saw a plight of a people and knew that it was not what the world should have been.

Anyway. My point is the more we show a system of control to everyone they will eventually believe in it themselves. Keep showing them and the ideals trickle in to the minds of the people. They won’t go killing, but they will begin to stop thinking and obey. Just as they were able to convince eachother what they were doing would save them.

Let’s move on.

Now that I have this domain name and the blog I am now using it more. Can I get a “No shit Sherlock” from the crowd?!

Right so. I just need to get a thought out of my mind and that is pertaining to the idea of thought. I posed a question yesterday based on this. What is the nature of thought and what is an original thought? Is it making your own decisions and conclusions? Is it being able to find a problem then solve it or is the solution just obvious and no else wants to solve it?

I personally see it as we are programmed. There are many people who feel the same. Look at the toys our grandparents and parents played with. The way education was tailored to their gender and how they were told what was expected from them. But then it changed again. And why? Some people blame music, tv, video games, even other cultures. But perhaps it was just that people began to think differently. Ideas are powerful things and even if these medias are to blame it is a good blame I think.

When Elvis burst onto the scene he spoke to an entire generation of teens. He changed the sound of the day. Then the other rockers began to show up and music evolved. But this prompted people to start looking at rag other differently. They began to are that they wee programmed and then try changed.

Hippies were born and took it to the extreme. No more shackles from society. They opposed governments and their backward thinking. They wanted younger people in power, they realized that they needed people to change an to do so the leaders of people needed to change and be more in tune with their constituency and how they thought.

This happened and then it’s gone back. But that’s a different rant. My point is people woke up for a time. Tech moved forward our understanding of the mind and how we interact was forever changed as drugs reached te masses. LSD changed people, they saw things from a new perspective and unlocked new potential.

Anyway I’m losing my train of thought. I’ll come back to this later.

Yup. Just a rambling.

Naw I’m kidding. So I’m thinking to myself, “Hey I should get off my ass and spend some dosh on some projects.” And you know what? You’re right me. There are a lot of projects I’d like to start on. So this weekend I am going to start.

First project is going to be the home made nerf gun. Which is just a modified nerf maverick with a pellet gun CO2 cartridge.

The point of this post is just a question. Have you ever thought that at one point in your life you would have an original thought? Of course you have. You may say, “All my thoughts are original.” But have you ever just say down and wondered what steered your thought processes? Ever wondered what the little voice is that you hear? Is it ours or is it merely an avatar placed there by something. No not god or anything like that. Placed there by politics, people, marketers, and other such ubiquitous entities.

Is there something from birth that gets whispered into our ears? If not I have an idea for adverts while in the womb. But let’s get back on point.

What influences you? Honestly. Think on it. It’s amazing what you may find.

Ok. So now what I wanted to talk about. Just as a warning this could get interesting, slightly sexual in nature and may be NSFW.

Recently I heard a some called Gravity Defying Boobies. Yup you just read that. Now it inspired me to think of a way to levitate objects and the simplest answer was of course a magnet. Now some would say, too expensive, too complicated, and what could it be used for?

Well, lets start with the best practical application I could think of. Materials handling. Rather moving. So you see people use the pump trucks, you know those mini forklift devices that you pump up and down to lift a load on a pallet and roll to another area. Well why not use that, but instead of wheels that get clogged with crap (personal experience), use a maglev system. Now you are think of the two phrases above again to which I will address now.

Too complicated:

Not really. Maglev is a rather simple task, the hardest part is power. Now, you could go really simple and use permanent magnets embedded in the floor and on the dolly or pump truck, but those are heavy and expensive. Not to mention permanent. Anything could get stuck to them and then you’d have a problem removing it. But why not use an electromagnet? At least if something gets stuck it can be easily removed, just cut the power. Now, use an alternating current in those coils and you get an alternating magnetic field. Make it fast enough and use an aluminum or other diamagnetic material for the dolly and you have a fine, light weight solution.

The alternating magnetic field will cause eddy currents in the aluminum causing it to naturally repel any magnetic field it encounters. get the right amount of power and frequency into those coils and you have a safe, effective handling device.

Too expensive:

Everything is expensive, get over it. Progress requires sacrifice, so lets spend less on war and more on progress. Less greed.

Now. How is this safe? High voltage/current, heavy loads and possibilities of damaging electronic goods and pace makers for instance. Well in all matters concerning handling heavy loads there is always someone or a few people guiding the forklift or dolly while there is also people blocking the general public from potential harm. Keep these folks, but using RFID or other methods, make the magnets switchable. Make it so that only one segment, say, 5ft sq. is active at any one time. So you setup an effective perimeter around the dolly so no one gets hurt. The system can even be set to switch off slowly, allowing the load to be slowly lowered to ground. Less damage and potential harm to humans.

Now, how did a song called Gravity Defying Boobies spawn this train of thought?

I like breasts what can I say, I am not ashamed of that admission. And lets face it, why not design a maglev bra? It could work for any size. The task is scaling the system down to a human transportable device. A ring of alternating electromagnets, with a diagmagnetic cup to support the breast. Because of the nature of diamagnets the system would self stabilize. Now Stop reading if this makes you uncomfortable, but I assure you there will be many mentions of breasts. Since we all know the job of a bra is to support and maintain the health of womens breasts. They have become something of less utility and more form as of the last century or so. This is a good thing. However, they are not all equal. The point here is to provide proper support so that the woman is less susceptible to harm. That is breast cancer, back, neck and shoulder pain, etc, etc. Now not all women are plagued by this out right. But it should be noted that any breast of any size is an organ that must be maintained. They are important to life, as is any female of any species.

Using the system the breast should be stabilized in a magnetic field that will hold them in proper proximity to the body as well as support them at the proper height to alleviate any strain from the back, neck and shoulders. This would be a strapless affair really, since hopefully all support will be provided from both sides and below.

Wow, this getting long winded, I’ll cut it short. Better bra, which supports the breasts using magnetic fields, which would hopefully alleviate all issues associated with the mechanism of the modern bra. The plan is to support all breasts to maintain good health to the women who bare them and to ensure that they look good doing it.

So, that was fun and it touch on one of my favourite aspects of the female form. There is more to women than breasts.

There you go. A practical method of using a maglev in warehouse and materials handling, as well as a method for supporting breasts. I think we just need to add fire, meat and killing something and I think we cover all the basis of the male mind.

*Also, I know maglev is not technically making gravity null. It does not stop gravity from working, just resists it. But it is the best term to describe something like this.
